Üks suveöö Rootsis
Esmaspäev, 13 Veebruar 2012

Väike artikkel inglise keeles Ilmar Taska "Üks suveöö Rootsis" lavastusest.

Vene Teater is staging a well known radio play by Erland Josephson EN NATT I  SVENSKA SOMMAREN (One Summer Night in Sweden) which has been a success in Dramaten in Stockholm, also at BBC Radio and many other countries.

The play is about how a world famous Russian refugee film director Andrei Tarkovsky  works with renowned Swedish actors Erland Josephson, Sven Wollter, producer Katinka Farago, translaator Layla Alexander Garrett, etc. How he learns to deal with new world, appriciate  different life, make friends and have opposing opinions with Swedish film makers.

The beauty of Gotland is depicted through set design, photos and film footage, elements of Swedish music are used.

Director of the play, Ilmar Taska was in contact with Tarkovski when the film Offret was filmed in Sweden in 1985. He has worked with Nordstjärna and Remote Control
Productions at Kulturhuset and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, directed plays at Courtyard Theatre in London, Macha and Met theatres in Los Angeles, etc.

Vene Teater wants its viewers to introduce a page in Swedish culture, Swedish film history and contemporary Swedish society. After all, Sweden with its democratic
system and appreciation of culture gave the great Russian director Andrei Tarkovski in a difficult time of his life a chance to live and work with world famous “Bergman” actors and cinematographer Sven Nykvist.

Erland Josephson cherishes his work and friendship with Andrei Tarkovski.  We are happy to stage his radio play,(adapted for theatre by Ella Agranovskaja) about Josephson’s friendship with Tarkovski and open to Tallinn audiences, a meeting of two worlds, a slice of life on the movie set, which does not happen so often in Estonian theatre life.

We are planning an extended press coverage and marketing campaign on this play production.
